FAQ .: Navy Uniforms .: Are enlisted under E6 required to wear solid silver or pewter EAWS pins?

Are enlisted under E6 required to wear solid silver or pewter EAWS pins?

Navy personnel are required to wear insignia that complies with military specifications approved by the Chief of Naval Operations. Silver refers to the color of the insignia, pewter to the finish. Our EAWS insignia is required to be a oxidized (pewter in appearance) finish. Wearing an EAWS pin with a chromed or other bright shiny finish is not authorized. The ONLY authorized shiny insignia is the submarine dolphins - the milspec requires a shiny (chrome-like appearance).
